Wireless Transfer App, developed by Shenzhen Socusoft Co., is a new and useful utility that allows you to easily move photos and videos between iDevices which have the app installed, along with your computer. Whether you’re a casual iPhotographer or an all-out photo-sharing wizard, Wireless Transfer App has the potential to be a valuable tool.
The app has a very simple interface which is easy to navigate. The provided directions right on the main screen make it super simple to either upload or download photos. Transferring media to/from a computer is as easy as opening your web browser and entering the IP address which is provided by the app. In order for this to work, however, all devices must be on the same wireless network. Once your device has connected with your computer, you’re able to upload and download to your heart’s content.
If you’re looking to transfer photos and videos between iDevices, it’s just as easy. Simply install Wireless Transfer App on all devices (luckily it’s universal) and connect to the same Wi-Fi network. The app automatically detects other devices on the network, which simplifies things immensely.
The only problem I’ve encountered while using the app is the inability to consistently connect it to my computer (hence only three stars). If you’re of the technologically faint of heart, delving into your router and diagnosing the problem might not be so easy. I’ve also noticed the app doesn’t work on public Wi-Fi networks.
Wireless Transfer App is perfect for folks who own more than one Apple device and would like to bypass uploading photos and videos to virtual clouds or computers. Though I don’t see it being used very often as a means of transferring media to a computer, its use as a iPad to iPhone/iPod (and vice versa) connection is where the app truly shines.
Wireless Transfer App is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.2 or later.
